Love is a mysterious thing. It can bring happiness to one person, but it can also bring despair to one's heart. 14-year old Daisuke Niwa expieriences the difficulties of love as he himself struggles with this family tradition. According to the Niwa bloodline, on the 14th birthday of a boy, they would possess the spirit of the legendary Phantom Theif Dark.
But the stealing of Dark does have its own purposes, to seal away the evil spirits of the dangerous artworks made by the Hikari family. Can Daiskue Niwa handle life with the legendary Dark while dealing with love at the same time?
Daisuke Niwa: A normal middle school student who has fallen in love with a Risa Harada. However, she rejected him. After he goes home in that same day, he feels something wrong with his body. Then, he inherits the Niwa family's "curse" and becomes the Phantom Thief Dark whenever his emotions for Risa goes out of control. Poor Daisuke endures a difficult life.
Dark: The legendary Phantom Theif who everyone wants to catch. His stealing may be a crime but it's for an important purpose. Dark is the alter-ego of Daisuke and has a crush on Riku but has Risa chasing after him instead.
Risa Harada: The younger sister of the Harada twins. Risa rejected Daisuke when he admitted his feelings and instead, goes for his alter-ego, Dark, after seeing him for the first time on TV. Risa is like a girly girl who is into different clothes and hairstyles.
Riku Harada: The older sister of the Harada twins. Riku is a cool and athletic girl. She has troubling times when dealing with her sister but other than that, she loves Risa very much! Riku has fallen in love with Daisuke but has suspicions of him and Dark being related somehow.
Satoshi Hiwatari: An intelligent middle schooler who is actually a spy. He has a mission to caputure Dark. Satoshi and Daisuke both have a curse in their family bloodline but are opposites.
Krad: (Spelled as "Dark" backwards) Krad is a homicidal angel who seeks to kill out Dark. He is Satoshi's alter-ego and only appears whenever he encounters Dark or anything related to Dark. He has no care for anyone except for.. maybe Satoshi, since he does use his body when he appears. Other than that, Krad can get very evil and violent.
Wiz (or) With: Daisuke's pet bunny but has lived a very long life. It serves Dark by transforming itself into his black wings. It can also transform into Daisuke or Dark.

The anime was pretty good! I enjoyed watching each episode. Some brought me to tears from sadness and some got me all pumped up from the excitement. As for the manga, oh man.. it is excellent! I think the manga is better but I still prefer both, in my opinion.
